What Is Good Fruit in Our Daily Christian Life?
Whatever you do, say, or think, and whatever attitude you hold, you should always examine whether the ultimate goal of that way can be described as “loving God with all your heart” and/or “loving your neighbor as yourself.” If it cannot, then you must turn away from that way. We speak of bearing good fruit when this pattern is evident in our deeds, words, and attitudes.
In short, your fruit is good when you can honestly say of your attitude, action, or word that, toward God, it reflects your love for Him with all your heart, and toward others, it reflects your love for your neighbor as yourself. This is the principle of Colossians 3:17 at work: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
A fruitful word, action, or attitude is one that clearly displays love for God and love for others. A believer bears good fruit when he or she walks in this way with the help of the Holy Spirit, for without Christ we can do nothing (John 15:5).
