The Premise of “Jesus Christ is King” for Believers in Their Daily Walk with God
The necessity of continually keeping in mind that “Jesus Christ is King” as a foundational premise in the hearts and thoughts of Christ’s followers must be emphasized. Indeed, for every follower of Christ—whatever they do in word or deed, whatever they plan, consider, or reflect upon, and whatever circumstances they encounter—it is profoundly beneficial to hold this premise as the starting point: Jesus Christ is King (Revelation 17:14).
Those who have placed their trust in Christ as their Lord and Savior ought to enter each day remembering that Jesus Christ is King, and from this standpoint reflect upon and respond to everything that comes their way.
In the prayer the Lord Jesus taught His disciples, after first hallowing God’s name, they were instructed to pray, “Your kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10). Believers are therefore taught to call for the reign of King Jesus to be made manifest. The aim of Christianity is, in fact, to see the kingdom of God revealed everywhere. Thus, believers long to see God’s kingdom come in their personal lives and throughout the world.
Jesus Christ is the King of this kingdom. He reigns as King; He is enthroned as King forever; He rules over all things (Psalm 29:10; Psalm 103:19). Truly, heaven rules (Daniel 4:26), and it is crucial for followers of Christ to remind themselves of this so that their hearts may remain steadfast amid the many tribulations of this world.
Therefore, keeping the premise “Jesus Christ is King” in mind reminds believers that their personal Lord is King, that He rules, and that they may invite His sovereign involvement in every circumstance they face, with confidence in His name. Because Jesus Christ is King—over all things, with authority over all things, and sovereign in all things—no situation a believer faces is hopeless. The Lord Jesus rules over every circumstance, and nothing is impossible for King Jesus.
In conclusion, all who have surrendered their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ ought to walk by faith in Him, grounded in the peace-giving premise and truth that He is King—enthroned forever and reigning now and for all eternity. Because King Jesus sovereignly rules with all power (1 Timothy 6:15), nothing is hopeless for those who trust in Him; with Him, all things are possible, which serves as a powerful antidote to fear. Believers can always stand firm as they remember that Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, with all things under His feet (Ephesians 1:20–23), and that He reigns as King forever.
