5-Topic of the Day: Let us cry out to God, asking Him give His bride the understanding of
2 Timothy 1:7, and the grace to walk in the reality of this transforming truth. Self-discipline
(some translations use “self-control”) is something I have sensed being emphasized repeatedly in
recent times. As I reflected on this and considered the Church, it became clear that many of
God’s children have a great need to understand this truth, to desire to walk in it, and to receive
the grace to do so, in Jesus’ name. Following are some helpful verses, let’s pray as the Spirit
leads.
2 Tim.1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.1 Cor.9:24-
27 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that
you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a
perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as
one beating the air.27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to
others I myself should be disqualified.2Tim.2:4-6 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits,
since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he
competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share
of the crops.
6- One Special Thing & Encouragement – Any encouragement God has given to anyone
7-Next Session’s Topic: Let us cry out to God asking Him to create in His children the kind of
heart seen in the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11: they were looking for a different city (11:10);
they acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth (11:13); they were seeking a
homeland (11:14); they desired a better country—a heavenly one, a city prepared for them by
God (11:16). They were great models of faith and perseverance, and they did not settle for or
love this world. May this same heart give us, as believers, the boldness and courage to live in a
manner worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ.
8- Closing Prayer and Thanksgiving – Thank You, Lord our God, for hearing our prayers and
receiving our thanksgiving, in Jesus' name. Amen.
